Artist Profile: The Bro-Bro’s

When you hear the phrase pop punk, you probably think of mainstream acts like Green Day and Blink-182. But for fans of the Binghamton music scene, there’s one act that has completely turned the phrase “pop punk” on its head. We’re talking, of course, about the Bro-Bro’s.

Formed from a variable who’s who of Binghamton music scene punk and metal royalty, the Bro-Bro’s are accurately self-described as “the world’s greatest all-guy all-girl cover band.” This lighthearted male quintet performs covers of mainstream pop and rock songs from female artists and bands. And in a city where we often celebrate music acts that step out of genre norms to develop a unique sound, it’s no wonder the Bro-Bro’s are often hailed as arguably the best cover band in the Greater Binghamton region.

Their sets include hits from their namesakes, the Go-Go’s, plus Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Cyndi Lauper, No Doubt, The Bangles, Billie Eilish, Madonna, The Cranberries, Pat Benatar, and countless other acts. Their music spans every decade from the 1960’s through today, with a particular flair for those hits from the 80’s through the aughts.

Background

Since forming in 2017 and playing their first gig at Galaxy Brewing Company, the Bro-Bro’s have been gigging regularly throughout Greater Binghamton, putting on fun, energetic, wildly entertaining shows featuring an impressive list of iconic songs. And their performances at Binghamton Porchfest have become can’t-miss events for their growing roster of fans, drawing some of the biggest crowds at the massive music festival each year.

If you’re a fan of Binghamton’s punk or metal scenes, you’ll certainly recognize the names forming this all-covers 607 supergroup. Scott Graham takes up lead vocals. Kevin Kober (Unethical) is on bass and backing vocals. Guitar and more backing vocals are handled by Tom Doud (Floodlands) and Jason McCulloch. And Bijoy Datta, (Muscle Cars) keeps everything moving with his exceptional drumming. All of their previous and current projects are driven by originals—for the five gentlemen of the Bro-Bro’s, this is their first and only cover band.
